journals can be in character or out of character without the use of underscores or numbers. journals should have at least one icon uploaded and pbs should be 18+ and follow the five year rule. we require biographies of at least 250 words, not including your basic information, likes and dislikes, or random facts. please make sure to backdate your ic spam posts and your bio/contact post. due to the current climate in the rp world, we do ask that anonymous comments be disabled. we also encourage all posts to be locked to friends only.

being that the game is set in los angeles county, we are fine allowing some faux celeb characters. however, since faux celeb is not our main goal here, we will not be keeping track of this. if we notice a high amount of faux celebs, we may put a cap on it just to keep things on an even keel.

one post per month is required of each member. it must be open to the community with comments enabled, and you must respond to the majority of comments for it to count. this can be anything that gets you interacting with the community. ooc plot posts will not count towards activity at this time. we understand that we all lead busy lives, so we want to take a relaxed approach here but at the same time, this will only work if people are interacting and active! we will not grant extensions on monthly activity since we are only asking our members to post once. unless you are on hiatus, we expect everyone to be able to post something once a month. we do encourage our members to post multiple times throughout the month to help the game thrive. intro's will count as monthly activity for new members, but you will still need to drop this off to the mods for it to count..

we will grant a hiatus on a case by case basis. we understand that things happen in life that take precedence over role-play. real life always comes first! that being said, if you need more than four weeks, we may ask you to consider removing your character and reapply when things calm down.

at this time while we do not have a character limit, we just ask that you only take on what you can handle and do not use multiple characters to manipulate others. when bringing in new characters we ask that you are active with the ones you already have before taking on more. all characters written by the same writer should be disclosed to the mods. Current members reading this (as of 7/22/2024) need to comment the most recent adds post to let us know you've read this new update. Please list all of your current characters in the comment. If it's one, just list the one. Thank you!

while we very much encourage you to write all the dark, depressing, weird, and complicated storylines you'd like, we'd rather your character not be outright racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, etc. it's 2024 guys!

we are all here to have fun and want this to be a welcoming, friendly place to write and develop characters. bullying and needless ooc drama will not be tolerated, period. we are all adults and the vast majority of us are not new to any of this. ic drama is fun BUT should be kept in character. ooc bully, blurring or crossing of the ic/ooc line can result in immediate removal. while we encourage everyone to be friendly IC to other characters we do understand that just like in real life, some personalities will not mesh and that is okay! just because your characters don't get along or may not prefer another character doesn't give you the right to treat the writer poorly, end of story. we highly encourage everyone to stay clear of the anon pages and if you are being bullied/harassed by players here at southlanders, please reach out and we will immediately investigate and take appropriate action.
